LA/RC 131 | 4G : The Mice of New York City
Mice and rats have a lot in common. They are both found all over the world. Both are unwelcome guests in people’s houses. Most people don’t want them around. They steal food, leave a mess, and can even bring diseases.
However, there are clear differences between mice and rats. Rats are much larger than mice. Most mice weigh between 15 and 50 grams, which is about as much as a handful of pennies or paper clips. Rats weigh around 350 grams, which is about as much as a full can of soda. While mice grow up to 10 centimeters long, rats can reach 25 centimeters.
Their bodies are different in other ways, too. Mice are tiny, but they have large, round ears. Rats’ ears are smaller. Mice also tend to have hair or fur on their tails, while rats do not. [/responsivevoice]
